Take this road 8.5 miles to a T-shaped junction at the Rockville School, where you will head left toward Succor Creek for another 1.8 miles. Then team leaders will lead the volunteers to the work sites, with the necessary tools, and the fun begins: weeding and repairing the edge rocks along trail, removing Nandina and Ligustrum plants with weed wrenches and shovels, clearing rock and debris from the switchback trail, repairing some of the wood railings, blocking erosive short cut paths, working on the retaining walls that support the wood bridge, graffiti removal and trash pick up. We will be set up for registration, breakfast tacos fortification, and orientation for tasks by our team leaders at 8:45 am, at the trail entry. Our work event is scheduled from 8:45 am to noon, at the Homedale entry to the Greenbelt, which is located behind Barton Hills Elementary School at 2010 Homedale Drive.
We will be participating in the citywide It’s My Park Day event, along with many other park adopter groups at other parks around the city. Our first work day for 2016 year is right around the corner, on Saturday, March 5.
